How Bad Are The 2011 Royals Starters?

Going by the things pitchers have the most control over (strikeouts, walks, hit-by-pitches and homers) the 2011 Royals starting pitching is on its way to being the second worst in franchise history, right up there with the dismal 2005-06 seasons. Here is a look at the best and worst starting pitching performances in franchise history by FIP- (lower is better):

  1. I like it that you listed staff with 6 pitchers. What a ludicrous concept! Our starters our so bad, let's use 6 of them! Here's and idea: Put Davies in the pen, and use him in long relief rather that letting starters flail along. Adcock is not getting used enough, either. Ned, use a shorter leash with such mediocre hurlers.

  2. I actually don't mind the six man rotation for now, other than the fact that Davies is a part of it. As Clark Fosler said on Twitter, "Of the now 6 Royals starting pitchers, the only one that matters longterm is Duffy. 6 man rotation is good for him right now."
